Our journey today was centered on production--film and stage! We began our day with a visit to King 5's New Day Northwest. After being seated, the audience manager asked for volunteers to play a Mariner's trivia game and our very own Kenny was chosen! Kenny crushed his opponent, 3-0, similar to how the M's completed a three game sweep against the Angels as host Margaret Larson put it. Other highlights from the show included a photojournalist who reflected on the Rwandan genocide anniversary, a chef who previewed a Seattle Restaurant Week dessert from RN74, and two representatives from Children's Hospital who were raising awareness for April's Child Abuse Prevention Month. We greatly enjoyed seeing the "behind the scenes" making of the show and appreciated the shout out Overlake received in the final segment. After a quick lunch in the lobby of the King 5 building, we crossed town to the Paramount Theater where we saw Disney's The Lion King. I think I speak for the whole group when I say that our breath was absolutely taken away by the opening scene. As the young Simba cub is first presented on Pride Rock, the whole savanna comes alive. It was truly a magical moment. Every detail of the show--from the costume design, to the set, to the quality of the actors' voices--was expertly produced. It was certainly a day we won't be forgetting soon!
