Day Five 2015

We spent our Friday Fun Day eating our way through Pike's Place...quite literally.  We started our day with coffee at Local Color, an eclectic espresso bistro seated in the heart of bustling Pike's Place Market.  After we'd had our fill of Caffe Vita espresso drinks and had taken in all the local art, which covers every spare inch of wall space in Local Color, we headed out to explore the Pike's Place Vendors.  Everyone got to pick their favorite lunch spot...some popular choices were Beecher's, Crepe de France, and Three Girls Bakery.  We wrapped up our week with a Savor Seattle customized food tour led by Brett, our fabulous tour guide who kept us entertained with his witty rapid fire puns and extensive knowledge of Seattle.  On our tour, we visited Pike's Place Fish, Frank's Quality Produce, Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt, Fran's Chocolates, Beecher's Handmade Cheese, Cantina de San Patricio, Serious Pie, and La Buona Tavola.  As I mentioned, we literally tasted our way through Seattle.  It was a great week of Seattle art!

Day Four 2015

Today we began our rainy Thursday at the King 5 building where we enjoyed some breakfast in the station's cafeteria while we waited to be seated for our visit to New Day Northwest.  We sat in the audience for the taping of today's show which included segments on the new menu items at Safeco (highlights were bacon wrapped Seattle dogs and fresh crab sandwiches), Spring beauty must-haves, financial advice, and a visit from author Scott D. Sampson, advisor for the show Dinosaur Train.  There was also a rousing rendition of "Where my Peeps at?"  Anjani, Haley, and Addie were gracious enough to volunteer to partake in the game and all three came away with prizes.  The highlight of the day was when we toured the studio, even trying out the news anchor desk and the green screen for King 5 News.  After hamming it up on the set and a quick lunch in the lobby, we ventured out into the unexpected sunshine and wandered down the street to Pacific Place where we window shopped a bit on our way to the ACT Theater.  Our afternoon concluded at the ACT where we saw the 1968 musical revue Jacques Brel is Alive and Well.  It was another great day of Coffee and Culture in Seattle!

Day Three 2015

Day Three began with a long bus ride and a quick change of plans.  After getting a little lost and finding our original coffeehouse pick to be less than desirable, we headed to Diva Espresso on the fly.  Thanks to some quick thinking, it ended up being the perfect start to our day.  There was plenty of seating and the coffee was strong and hot.  After we met our caffeine quota, we took the scenic route to the Frye Museum, stopping by a couple churches, including St. James, on our way for photography practice.  At the Frye, we explored several exhibits and took a half hour art of meditation class where we all slowed down for a bit.  After lunching at the museum cafĂ©, we headed up to Broadway and meandered toward Volunteer Park, soaking up the unexpected afternoon sunshine, ending our day with breathtaking views of downtown Seattle.
